BodyTite can be performed using just a local anesthetic meaning that there is no need for a general anesthetic or prolonged effects from being anesthetized. Once the target area has been cleaned and the anesthetic has been administered, your surgeon will assemble the cannula which will be used for the BodyTite™ process. Completely new and sterilized equipment is provided for every patient and then disposed of after.
The cannula will be inserted into the area through small incisions. The anesthetic will ensure that you won’t experience any discomfort. The cannula emits radiofrequency energy which bounces off of the external electrode placed on the surface of your skin. This liquifies the fat cells so that they can pass into the tube in the center of the cannula and through it out of your body. In the meantime, the radiofrequency energy helps to immediately tighten the skin and create improved body contours.
Immediately after your procedure you will be fitted with a compression garment that must be worn over the area you have had treated. This garment will help keep the incisions clean as well as reducing swelling and expediting the healing process. You will typically need to wear this for between three and five days depending on the advice from your surgeon.
You may also be in some discomfort. This is normal and usually only last for a few days. Your surgeon will prescribe you some moderate strength painkillers to help you remain comfortable, and after a few days you should be able to switch to over the counter pain relief if you still require them.
